Exotic Paper Polar Bears
This week we enjoyed the lively book Move! by Robin Page and Steve Jenkins. The kids were especially interested in the words "spider" and "snake", but were more than happy to build their own polar bears out of torn exotic paper.
Hi Trista, What a fabulous thing you have done with the Children's Art Workshop. Whitney (Keyes) just sent me your blog. Do you remember I had a Montessori school? We did so many art projects. David even built us a potter's wheel for preschoolers. One summer Bobbi Frankel and I used the school space for a summer art program doing tie dye, ceramics, prints and of course all sorts of other art activities with 30 kids ages 3-12. Congratulations on your great art school! I'm really impressed! I'm working as a painter these days, as I cannot work with the really heavy stuff I used to use. You can just google barb minas to see my work about global warming (polar bear!) and other environmental work. I'll keep an eye on what you're doing. And I thank Whitney for showing me your site. Welcome to the Children's Art Workshop blog.
After the birth of my son Torben, I became increasingly frustrated at the lack of dynamic early-educational and creative programs for children here in Hannover, Germany.
One day, as I was fingerpainting with Torben, who we are raising bilingually, and listening to jazz, he painted a wobbly blue circle on his paper and said proudly, "Jazz!" An idea sparked in my head and I spent the next year fervently developing the Children's Art Workshop.
Today, The Children's Art Workshop offers a colorful range of courses combining creativity, music and play with language learning for children and adults.
